BOOKS, BOOKS and a lot more BOOKS but maybe with some cosmetics thrown in!!

Hi everybody! i know it's been very long since the last post and this time i can't even give the excuse of being busy (if you count reading books as being busy which my mom sure doesn't!) But i'm back now and i'll be talking about all the new books that i've read!! In my previous posts i've been talking about South east Asian dramas but those will have to wait!
 SO onto the BOOKS! ^ _ ^

I've been dying for the Mark of Athena to get published!!! Ever since i read the whole Percy Jackson and the Olympians series i've craved for more... Who wouldn't ?? okay so i'm itching to discuss what's gonna happen in it as is each fan, i'm sure!! The cover is very interesting as it shows Percy and Jason against each other which has been gnawing at me since the moment i saw it because no matter what i DON'T want to see them fighting!!! I always thought that Percy and Jason were quite similar just like Percy and Thalia so they would have arguments but would always sort of be friends... But is till don't know if they would actually fight maybe Rick wants to show something else through that... i hope so!!!!!! So Rick left us hangin' off when Percy with Hazel and Frank came to greet The Argo second as it landed in Camp Jupiter. Personally i don't reckon Rick would start off a fight at the beginning of the book itself. But as you know, an excerpt of the first chapter was published some time ago which is about Annabeth's thoughts. It's revealed that she has recieved some sort of gift from her mother Goddess of War and Wisdom-Athena. She has constant jitters about a cold wind and someone watching her... which seems a bit indicative. As they're landing, they're stopped by Terminus god of boundaries or whatever so they can't go ahead. The ship is left to hover and with fear in her heart, Annabeth dismounts it because she has seen Percy with two strangers who seem to be his friends... oh well classic rick riordan cliff hanger... anyway, rick has left some clues on his blog as to the characters and i was soooooooooooo excited!!!!! The first is obviously Gleeson Hedge (LOL!!) then there's Nemesis goddess of balance and revenge who seems to be making some kind of deal with Leo (dangerous!!) she's portrayed as an intimidating biker chic (lol) the wine dude (Mr. D would kill me aka turn me into a bottle of merlot!!) Bacchus god of wine and madness.... he seems to be an impossible person to help them... a bit problematic though.... oh well moving on- it's Venus i wonder how she will help them unless she'll simply be causing problems between the established triangle of Hazel, Leo and Frank... so far everyone that's mentioned is a troublemaker wonder how they'll help! The next Character is such a big surprise and i smiled so widely when i read the name even if he looked too different from hisDisney counterpart!! LOL IT's HERCULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you recall, he'd been made a God because of his noble deeds back in the day and now he carries a crew cut and a baseball bat instead of the traditional club that we all know about (ROFL) Anyway Rick says not to mistakenly call him a minor god so i suppose someone is gonna call him that !!! He even doesn't like his Disney version or the story which btw i do like cuz thats the first time I ever heard of him!!! Exciting, isn't it?????????Last but the most dangerous- Arachne, the Spider queen (Spider man would do well not to date her as i'm pretty sure she'll hate him!!)  This is perhaps the most illuminating reveal as Arachne hates Athena and her children and This book's title is mark of athena...  In the Son of Neptune, we hear about the incomplete prophecy related to the upcoming book- Wisdom's daughter walks alone, Mark of Athena burns through Rome. Well pretty obvious it's about Annabeth and the recent gift she's recieved from Athena to Avenge her when they get to Rome... I think this might be something about how Percy has to sacrifice and he won't be able to... Scary!!!! i like Annabeth and don't want her to be trouble and be sidetracked by avenging Athena with Arachne... But my guesses are short and leave me pining for the book!! I can't wait anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RICK HURRY!!!

So in the meantime to satisfy my hunger, (Since the mark of athena will be released in october possibly on the 2nd) i thought to check out Rick's other YA fantasy novel series- The Kane Chronicles! I decided to leave his other thriller murder mysteries aside as i'd just finished reading a mountain of Agatha Christies... Well I had already read The Red Pyramid - the first book and now that i searched on the net, i found the other two readily available. So i started off with The Throne of Fire. The plot is all about kids descended from Egyptian gods and can do magic and more awesome stuff... It has all the classic traits of the Rick Riordan style- fast pace, adventure, moral affliction etc.. The kids are fighting the god of chaos- the serpent Apophis and obviously face too many obstacles as always. Over all it's a good read but i still find Percy Jackson better -maybe i'm weak to the first come first serve notion... The Serpent's shadow concludes the series sadly. About the characters, well Sadie hugely sets me off- i simply hate her... no offence! Her character is simply too annoying! On the other hand i love the geeky and upright Carter... heh well to each their own!

The Demigod diaries are up for grabs in stores from 22nd august and who would miss a chance to know more about Thalia, Annabath and Luke? The book features Rick's son Haley's first story ever and i have to say he did a pretty bang up job mostly!! (*wink* Hephaestus!!) We also get to read what happened back at Camp Half Blood with Leo, Piper and Jason during the Argo second being constructed  simultaneously when Percy was off on his adventure with Hazel and Frank...
As usual it's pretty intense and i was very happy reading it.

I found another epic series online as i was looking for some great books... It's pretty famous- Artemis Fowl!!!!
I was pretty surprised myself when i read the first book and found myself immensely absorbed in it!! What really got my attention was the character Artemis because generally we hear that Heroes are good from the beginning and carry on until the end with little or no change which makes the story generic and quite boring but Artemis is a VILLAIN!!! I know what you're thinking but the  book is a sort of grey because it's very human even when it's about fantasy! Obviously my favourite character is Artemis Fowl!! and next to him possibly Butler and then Holly- Captain Holly Short... I read the whole series of 8 books because i couldn't stop myself when i started off!! Give it a try if you like Percy and Harry... Although look out for the prose because it's very technical and sometimes can be quite dragging atleast in the first book. Many fans thought that books after the 5th one- the lost colony, got boring and out of focus but i couldn't think that way because i found them quite in rhythm. They're a little over 180 pages and i was out pages each time wanting more! All in all amazing series!! Although i would want another number of books because i wonder what Artemis would be doing now that he isn't plotting crimes but then again it's hard to believe him NOT doing anything villainous!!! *wink wink!*

The other interesting series was Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. Frankly the only problem is the prose here (again!) It's a young adult novel  but feels more appropriate for kids till 15 only because of the prose... This got under my skin while reading and i abandoned it many times and shifted my attention to some classics but now i've finished the trilogy.... Even the title seemed like a kindergartener to me... Annoying ... but the concept and story really pulled through- i have to admit! i wouldn't have stuck this long if not for the plotline ..... and the fourth one- Extras is only going to be read as i can't let go anything Japanese even if only there are names in the book! Anyway you would not be exactly tempted to try it out but it's nice because of the original story. Go for that instead of the prose.
My favourite character would shockingly be Zane-la and then maybe David and next Tally-wa.
It could be compared to The Hunger Games of Suzanne Colins on the level of Dystopia but the concepts are completely different even if the meaning behind them is quite the same (autocracy is always thought to control people better than democracy)  What got me reading Uglies was the whole idea of discrimination between people on the basis of looks. This same principle is already rampant right now and it''s depicted even worse in the books. Possible by the end of the series, the character comes of age as its realised that what you have got under your skin is extremely worthy than whats on it... (no pun intended) meaning that how you are as a person is more of an issue than how you look...  Over all it's a good one but then again the prose might throw you off or conversely hook you hard...

i'll keep searching for more amazing books as always, please share if you like any books above or any others that you've read!!!
And now for the cosmetics! I haven't stopped buying though my pace maybe slower!!
I've got some Paul Mitchell products lined up. As is known Paul Mitchell is one of the top brands in haircare but they're on the expensive side i'll recommend some products you should invest in and which not to!

This the Super clean spray firm style- extra. It's a hard hold spray and works like any other if you've tried them!!It's Paul Mitchell so it's good quality that's the reason i got this( that and there were no other hairsprays i could find!!) Well this isn't a must have but if you need a good quality hard holding hairspray for tough gravity defying styles this works... but if you comb through after spray, the hold will loosen..
Paul Mitchell freeze and shine spray. This is absolutely amazing!!! Even better than the one above if it's possible! it's good for keeping in place natural hairstyles! If you wanna use it for straightening then after you've showered spray lots of heat taming spray and this as well cuz you can't use it just before straightening as it contains water and it'll just freeze that curly messy- before-straightening- style up!!  Let hair airdry and then straighten for best results! It works like magic!!The smell is honey-dewy and gorgeous!!! plus you get shiny hair as well as good hold!!!!! This is pretty useful but not absolutely necessary stilli love it! If you like to experiment with hairstyles, this is the thing.
Paul Mitchell Heat Seal. This is a must have for straightening or even blowdrying! It's the best product  if you want shine and heat protection rolled into one!! An HG for me! It's a worthy product to be invested in and it'll last a year even if you use continuously!! The smell is nothing to worry about and doesn't linger. The hold is light but stays for a day without humidity.
It's purely for shine and not at all necessary.... probably not to be bothered with...
I was sceptical when i brought the conditioner (that was my first product from the whole range) but i had to try as i had nothing to lose and only dry frizzy hair worse due to straightening left with me!!!
But When you use the whole thing together- shampoo, conditioner and serum and if you can, the mask, then you'll have bouncy soft and shiny hair but not greasy at all!!A miracle for me because the John Frieda things didn't work as nicely as this... Try it if you have frizzy poufy hair!!!
So thats it for now more when i read mark of athena! BTW check out Rick's blog for helpful hints about the book's plot!!!
